The Class Report now shows margin if sold today per head beside the class total, with and without interest, and the export carries the same numbers. The table fits on a desktop screen without scrolling sideways and prints in landscape.
The "Above market" warning now appears when a class's breakeven is above today's price, as intended. Before, it flagged profitable classes instead. Death losses are now valued on the weight basis your ranch chose for herd value, and reopening a closed season is limited to admins, the same as closing one.
A new Feedback button lets you report a problem, ask a question, suggest something or say what's working. You can attach a screenshot with every number blacked out, and black out more before it sends. Feedback written with no signal is saved on your phone and sends when you reconnect.
A new page lists the latest improvements to MooMargin in plain language, newest first, with an archive you can search. A count shows how many you haven't seen yet.
The Closeouts table now fits a standard laptop screen without scrolling sideways and prints on a landscape page. The explain popovers use plainer labels and formulas with dollars and pounds grouped in thousands, and Tab no longer gets stuck inside them.
Withdrawal clearance for a sale is now worked out by the server using the same rule as the app, and the sold-within-withdrawal flag is recorded even if your phone couldn't check. Ranches set to block such sales now have that enforced.
The app now checks where a change request comes from and what it contains, and refuses ones that don't look right. Size limits were added, and photo uploads are now limited to adding new photos.
Reissuing a team invite is now a single step, so a failure partway can't leave someone with no live invite. Discard on an expense import and Void now ask you to confirm first and can't be triggered twice.
When a season is closed for good, a sale dated inside it is now checked at the moment it is saved, so a close and a sale entered at the same time can't slip past each other.
If someone else changed which animal classes a cost category applies to while you were editing, your save is now refused instead of silently replacing their work. Nothing is written until you review the latest settings.
If a teammate has already changed a buyer, vendor or order buyer name since you opened the page, you now get a message to reload instead of overwriting their change. What you typed is kept.
Ranch Settings is now split into sections that each save on their own. Changes are recorded in the Activity log and can be restored, and expense rules are laid out as a category-by-class grid. Operators and advisors can view settings without changing them. Expense Import now lives under Reports, and Home reminds you about QuickBooks uploads.
A new How do I get this file? button on the QuickBooks upload walks you through exporting the report from QuickBooks Online, with a checklist before you upload. It also explains that QuickBooks Desktop files cannot be imported yet.
Where to find it: Expense Import > Upload a QuickBooks export
The menu is now four main places: Home, Record, Pastures and Reports. Settings sit behind a gear and your account menu holds appearance and sign out. On a phone there is a bottom tab bar with a big Record button. Setup is now called Ranch Settings, and Connections is now Expense Import.
Build your season budget on a Plan tab and lock it as your original plan. A Track tab then compares each line to what you have actually spent from your QuickBooks upload, with a pace marker and status, and lets you export or print it. It also works on a phone.
MooMargin can record masked sessions to help troubleshoot problems. Recordings show what someone did, not what your records say. Each ranch can turn recording off with a switch in Ranch Settings.
Each ranch can choose how many years death photos are kept, or keep them forever. Ranch Settings shows how many photos the next nightly cleanup will remove. An operator or admin can place a hold on a death during an open claim, and held photos are kept.
The Death page now shows death trends, including weather conditions around the deaths. You can attach several photos to each death, view them later, and print an owner packet. Weather limits are ranch settings under Ranch Settings.
A Profit and Loss by Class export from QuickBooks now uploads cleanly. You can mark a QuickBooks category as not an expense, such as loan payments or transfers, and keep a category at the ranch level so it isn't split across classes. A new overhead category covers ranch running costs.
The Buy page now loads all of your purchases, so head bought, total spent and the averages cover everything you have recorded. Undone purchases are also left out of the totals.
When you fix a sale, the Save button now stays off until the page has finished loading. This keeps the withdrawal check from being skipped on a slow connection.
Fixing a death entry with a new photo no longer fails with a network error on a good connection. Photos on new death entries also now upload instead of waiting in the queue.
An admin can now value the herd on pay weight (after shrink) instead of live weight. Herd Value says which weight it uses and shows an estimated pay weight column, and the export includes it. Ranch Settings also has a default shrink percent and a choice of 365 or 360 day interest. Nothing changes until you pick.
Breakeven and margin now use the weight you're paid on after shrink. A load's charges add up exactly to the invoice. Credit memos with no class now count in Budget vs Actual. Fixing a sale from several pastures keeps each line's load and pay weight.
The app can now only add to your record of cattle events, never change or delete one. Corrections are added as new entries. Sign-in origin checks are also stricter.
When you sign out, the receipts of entries already sent are removed from that phone, including sale amounts. This keeps them from being seen by the next person on a shared device. Entries still waiting to send stay on the phone.
An entry that was already received but re-sent after a dropped connection is no longer refused. An emptied and refilled pen no longer uses the old cattle's check-weigh to estimate weight for the new calves.
The date and location already in a death photo are now read and shown under the photo, and kept with it. If the photo has no date, it says so. You can choose not to keep the location. A photo added after an offline death now attaches to that death instead of showing up as a correction.
Moves, doctoring, deaths, counts, check-weighs and sales made without signal save on your phone and send on their own when you're back in range. You can see what's waiting, and edit a check-weigh that hasn't been sent yet. The offline banner shows up after a failed save.
A check-weigh with more head than the books show now saves, with an amber warning instead of a refusal. Deaths, sales and moves that exceed the head on the books also save, so what you saw in the field gets recorded. Draft entries stay on your device.
Your season no longer has to start on October 1. Pick any month and season filters and pickers follow it. Ranches that change nothing keep October. The month cannot be changed while a season is closed; reopen it first.
Where to find it: Ranch Settings, Conventions, Season starts
Your ranch now has its own time zone setting, which decides what "today" means in the app. Pick from a short list of North American zones or enter another one. Changing it never moves dates on entries you already made.
Where to find it: Ranch Settings, Ranch time zone card
The app and its reports now agree on today's date using your ranch's time zone. Before, they could disagree in the evening, which could put the current season or date-based totals off by a day or more.
If a team member forgets their password, an admin can create a one-time reset link from the Team card and pass it along. The link works once and expires after 24 hours, and the person is signed out everywhere when they set the new password.
Report a problem or ask a question without leaving the app. Your name and email are filled in from your sign-in, and if the message cannot be sent, the app opens an email to support with the details and keeps what you typed.
The app now limits how many sign-in, sign-up and password-change requests can come from one connection in a short window, to protect ranch accounts. Normal page loads are not affected.
Continuing with Microsoft now always shows the account picker, so you can choose which account to use. When you accept an invitation, the sign-in screen is pointed at the email address that was invited.
If you are signed in but have not yet been added to a ranch, or your email is not yet verified, the header now shows a Sign out button. Before, there was nothing on screen to end the session.
Someone invited to a ranch who signs in with a Microsoft account can now accept the invitation. Before, they could be sent back to the sign-up form. The message shown now tells them to open their invite link again to finish joining.
Some phones and browsers were stuck on an old version of MooMargin. The app now updates itself with each new release and switches over the next time you move to another screen, so you are not interrupted while entering something.
Pages are wider, so wide report tables are no longer cut off at the edge. On a phone or other narrow screen, the top links now fold into a menu button instead of making the page slide sideways.
On reports like Closeouts, Class Report, Season Dashboard and Expense Explorer, some figures were drawn on top of the text beside them. They now sit cleanly in their own columns. Some small color dots and page-number boxes that were squeezed too narrow are fixed too.
Enter the deposit a buyer puts down when a forward contract is made, record it when it arrives, and link it to the sale. The deposit counts as part of the sale, not a deduction, and only the check due changes. Hands do not see contract prices or deposit amounts.
The app now checks for a newer version on its own, including when you come back to it or get signal again, so you are less likely to keep running an old copy.
Cattle from more than one pasture can now go on a single sale, each with its own head count and weights, at one buyer and one price. A sale line can start from that pasture's most recent check-weigh, and you can change any number.
Activity entries and their detail pages now show the names of the class and pasture instead of long strings of letters and numbers. If a name can't be found, the entry still shows.
The check-weigh page is now a table in the order you read it. The entry form asks for pasture first, then head count, then tag color, and its fields are larger and stack on a phone. Tags can have a short color name that shows on the entry screens.
Pastures and pens now have their own screen. Each place can have map coordinates and a boundary you draw, plus a dated timeline of what it was doing through the season, so a report still matches what was true at the time.
Price and weight are now entered for each group in a load, and you can pick vendors and order buyers from lists. Freight, commission and other charges can be added as separate line items. Past purchases appear in a table, and an earlier entry can be corrected from there.
Check-weighs now capture each pot's weight, and the Weigh page groups results by class with average weight and gain. You can fix a pot in place, and fixing an earlier entry now opens with its group and pots already filled in.
Admins can now see who is on the team, change roles and remove access. You can also invite someone without a Google or Microsoft account by sending them a private one-time link by text, in person or any way you choose.
The ledger of recent entries now has its own link first in the top menu, and the MooMargin name at the top is a link home. You no longer get stranded on whichever form you opened last.
Dollar amounts and price labels now follow the currency set for your ranch, instead of always showing U.S. dollars. Labels like price per hundredweight pick up the right currency symbol too.
Tapping from one screen to another no longer reloads the whole app each time, and the app downloads less to get started. That helps most on a slow country connection.
MooMargin can now be installed on your phone like an app. Screens you have already opened can be read when you lose signal, and they are labeled with when the information was last updated. Entry forms are turned off while you are offline so nothing looks saved when it is not.
Sign in with a Google or Microsoft account. Record purchases, moves, doctor visits, deaths (with an optional photo), weigh-ins and sales. Cost per head per day and cost of gain are figured for each tag, death loss is shown as a percent, and QuickBooks expenses can be imported and split across your tags.
Cattle finance for stocker and feedlot operations.
